With the annual Stockton Athletics awards brunch canceled this spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Stockton Athletics is saluting its student-athletes via this virtual awards recognition. All 19 intercollegiate teams are represented with videos featuring seniors and award winners.
For spring sports, award winners from the previous season are featured along with seniors from the current season due to the usual timing of the brunch on the last Sunday in April. Videos for the spring sports teams include awards from Spring 2019 along with seniors from Spring 2020.
In addition to the seniors and award winners, this virtual awards recognition includes highlight videos from two conference championship teams, 2019 Men's Lacrosse and 2019 Volleyball, plus the announcement of the Stockton Male and Female Athletes of the Year.
The Stockton University women's soccer team qualified for a United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2019-20 academic year. The Ospreys were one of 569 women's teams from all three NCAA divisions plus the NAIA, NCCAA and junior college levels to earn the recognition by posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Stockton, which is coached by Nick Juengert, registered a 3.65 team GPA that ranked in the top 22 percent of the 569 teams on the academic list. The Ospreys qualified for the second time (2014, 2020), and they were one of three NJAC squads to earn a spot, joining Kean University and Rutgers-Newark.
The Stockton women's soccer team posted a winning record for the 15th time in 17 years under head coach Nick Juengert and produced their highest win total since 2014 with 14 victories. The squad finished third in the conference and reached the semifinals of the NJAC Tournament. They relied on defense as the Ospreys posted 12 shutouts and allowed a meager 12 goals in 21 games.
