About Stockton Strength & Conditioning
Underneath I-Wing Basketball Gym is a 3,400-square-foot weight room, two walls of which are lined by multiple sets of dumbbells weighing up to 105 pounds in 5-pound increments. In the middle of the room are 3 double-sided, multipurpose racks that can accommodate both squats, bench press, and machine-based exercises simultaneously. The space, which was recently renovated in early December of the 2018-2019 academic year, accommodates nearly 450 student-athletes yearly and has 70+ athletes per hour training both traditionally and trendy and is branded with the Stockton logo everywhere.
It's enough to spur envy in most DIII colleges and some bigger programs, but Stockton S&C isn't satisfied. Stockton is looking to become "even bigger and better" than what we were in the past. This room isn't just for student-athletes, we accommodate everyone; students, student-athletes, faculty and staff. With Stockton University growing every year we are looking to give the strength training areas a lift both in style and substance. Here are some key developments that Stockton Strength & Conditioning has accomplished:
Weight rooms are no longer afterthoughts as new athletics facilities are constructed on high school campuses across the country. For many sports programs, strength translates directly to success. "We just feel it's a major part of your physical development. Not only for our student-athletes, but for the whole community," Christian Allen says. "If you don't get in the weight room and make yourself stronger, you're not becoming the best person or athlete you can become. And if you're not becoming the best you can become, you're not giving yourself a chance to be successful."
