Alternative Spring Break (ASB) places a group of students at volunteer sites outside of New Jersey to engage in a week of community service. The program provides students with a rewarding way to spend their time off in the spring--promoting community service, developing leadership skills, and creating strong bonds among its participants.
Since its founding in 2006, the ASB program has offered more than 220 students the opportunity to take part in trips to North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Each year Stockton partners with a Habitat for Humanity affiliate to build decent, affordable homes for those in need. Students have completed home projects including framing, roofing, painting, siding, and much more. Participants have also had the opportunity to work along side the future home owners, meet community members, explore local attractions and have a lot of fun along the way (singing "It's a Great Day to be Alive" by Travis Tritt almost every morning).
Although partially funded by the University, all student participants of the ASB program are required to pay to participate in the community service trip. Yes, students must PAY to participate in COMMUNITY SERVICE. On average, the trip costs approximately $300 per student, the majority of which must be charged to the student. Participants coordinate a variety of fundraisers throughout the year, but YOUR support will provide valuable resources to help lessen the financial burned on each student.
All donations, no matter the amount, make a tremendous impact on the students and the ASB program. In 2006, six students and one adviser founded the program. As the program has grown in popularity and impact, ASB has expanded to more than 50 students annually, with a wait list to participate that is equally as large. In order to sustain the program's impact and growth, more financial support is necessary. YOU can provide that support. Please consider donating, sharing our program with your friends and family, and/or encourage others to support ASB. All donations will be designated to the Angela Sena Memorial Alternative Spring Break Fund, an endowment which provides financial resources to the program in accordance with Stockton University's Foundation spending policy.

Your support provides meals one day's worth of meals for a student during the trip.
Your support allows the students to buy a hammer and box of nails to frame a home.
Your support allows students to buy a pack of shingles to put a roof over a family in need.
Your support at this level fully sponsors a student to attend an ASB trip.
Your support at this level provides the transportation for the students of an ASB trip.
