One-of-a-Kind: Tech Trek Camp

How We Got Started

A wildly successful program in California for nearly twenty years that is now expanding nationally, Tech Trek is a chance to ensure that girls are engaged in STEM.  In 2015, 30 girls entering 8th grade, from Atlantic and Cape May Counties attended the week-long camp at Stockton University. In 2016, 60 campers from eleven counties throughout New Jersey attended; and 62 campers from twenty counties attended in Summer 2017! 

Who We Are

Affiliated with the National American Association of University Women (AAUW), the first Tech Trek Camp in New Jersey was started by the Atlantic and Cape May County Branches of AAUW NJ, in 2015.  The camp has expanded to accept applicants throughout the state, with is led by the Atlantic and Cape May County branches as a major project of the AAUW NJ STEM Team, with strong support from several other branches located in central, northern, and southern New Jersey.  AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research.   

How Can You Help?

In order to provide this one-of-a-kind experience at a low cost to campers, we rely on support from people like you to bring this experience to our community. The American Association of University Women (AAUW) sponsors this camp with a small challenge grant, which must be matched with philanthropic gifts and other grants. Although AAUW asks each girl to pay only $50, actual expenses for camp range between $1500-$2000 each for the entire week of activities including non-stop hands-on STEM activities, dormitory stay, all meals, food and exciting field trip opportunities.
